Ok so today I can show you all the fully tiled bathroom, the grouting was just about to be started before I took these pictures, and I will update the site once I have taken some more.
So here we are…
Professional Sea Fishing Blanker, Father to his 8yr old daughter, IT Specialist and Games and Movie product tester (ha!)

So here we are…
Slowly things are starting to take shape in the Smith household, we are getting to see that start of what is the new bathroom!
Ok so as you can see the shower tray is in place
The ply board is being laid for a good solid base for the tiles!
The third bedroom is ticking along, still work in progress really.
Look at the state of that hallway (above), (left) my nice newly “aqua boarded” walls
Here is the first glimpse of the newly laid tile floor! It’s still very dirty, without any grout either! (Above & Below)
Third bedroom is starting to take more shape! Only a few planks left to go (above)
Here you can see the wall tile we have chosen for the walls in the bathroom, looks amazing in real life (honestly!!)
This is what I came home from work to see tonight, looks pretty good so far! Obviously still WIP, and the tiles are filthy! But imagine afterwards!
Tiles within the shower cubicle (to be) as shown above and below here
Third bedroom floor is 1 plank short of completion now.
Nearly all the pictures above were taken by Emma Smith aged 6 years old with my Canon Ixus 55
Ok so today saw the removal of the bath from the bathroom! Yes, no more bath!
So I am going to have to shower in the office until next Thursday, and Catherine and Emma, well they will have to manage (maybe my sister will let us go over there Sunday?).
The tiler is coming on Monday to tile 20 sqm of wall tiles, and 4 sqm of floor tiles, £450 for the 3 days work.
Anyway, enough waffle heres some pictures of the bathroom/bedroom.
The first picture shows the hot and cold feed for the new tap/unit coming out of the wall.
Next Emma shows that there is no floor, and some of the new pipework put in.
Last picture shows the spot where the old bath used to be!
As you can see the new wooden floorboards are being put down, nice job for me to stain and varnish them at the weekend! Yippee!
The first outing of 2010 was at the old favourite, and “blanking” hotspot known as Severn Beach!
So it was arranged for a 06:30 start, and subject to previous comments Mr.Thurlow did indeed turn up (and for once we were there ahead of him!).
So even after an early start we were mad keen to get cracking, and see who (if anyone) could get the coveted “First Fish of Bristol Channel”).
Dave “catch ‘em” Thurlow ready to start the 2010 season
Neil “Care In The Community” Bedford ready for the off!
Duncan “Wheres My Coat” Smith grinning with excitement
So the fishing commenced, and in no time at all… the crown of “First Bristol Channel Fish” went to Dave!
What we believe to be a very small codling, but a fish none the less, and in Severn Beach!!!!
The crown lost, not smiling now :-(
Neil thought he had a bite, but it turned out to be seaweed, but with the added bonus of a lump of stone attached to it. Not sure if this warrants an entry in the weird catch league!
Dave had the bit between his teeth now after his catch!
Neil still smiling, and look how much that tide has gone out from the picture above of Dave on the steps! That was only a matter of less than 40 minutes!
Ok so I haven’t updated this blog for quite sometime, mainly due to the fact we haven’t been fishing since December 17th.
So what’s happened since then…. well for starters we have finally made a start on the 3rd bedroom and bathroom at home. So the plan was to take out a stupid piece of wall that did nothing in the bathroom/bedroom and straighten the rooms up. Replacing all the flooring in the rear of the house upstairs with new floorboards, as the original ones are manky.
Then the bathroom with the existing bath for midgets, and electric “cost a packet cos Catherine has two showers a day” shower would be replaced with all new bathroom suite. So we decided to go with just a shower, rather than a bath we only have a shower in.
The shower, toilet, sink was chosen and the work commenced! Here are some of the highlights, and incidents that have occurred until today.
So starting with the obligatory before picutres (there is no after as its still being worked on!)
Horrible 3rd bedroom, showing the stupid bit of room missing that sticks into bathroom for no reason! (click for larger pictures on all the photos!)
Rear of the 3rd bedroom with radiator that was hopeless!
The stunning lighting in the bathroom!
Yuk, and the stupid bit on the right is the wall that will be removed!
Can you believe someone took the sink, taps and pedestal within minutes of it being put outside our house!
The tiny bath, and I mean tiny!
State of the art power shower, I reckoned it cost me about £2 a day with Catherine having 2 showers everyday!
Ok, so I got rid of all the paint on the walls, the guy who had it plastered before never put a sacrificial coat of water downed emulsion on, so the paint just peeled off literally!
Here’s the new roof joists that we put in about 4 years or so ago.
So here you can see the new doorframe, moved back from its original space, and the wall in the room is being squared off (the rest of the victorian wall shown on the right was about to come down).
The new door frame from the little hallway in the rear! Checkout the stupid electric shower on/off switch on the left wall (all gone now!!).
More door frame shots :-)
Ever wondered what is under the bath in a victorian bathroom! Here it is.
What no ceiling!
Open planning at its finest… !
Emma in the stupid bit of pointless wall/room space wasted!
My little angel in the yukky bathroom!
Emma hiding in the pointless gap!
Look at this lovely victorian wall!
Celotex! Yes Celotex! Kerching ££££££££
Just as you thought the light couldn’t get any worse!
Look at all that lovely insulation, expensive, but good!
Look a nice new stud wall!
3rd bedroom ceiling boarded and ready for nice new LED lights to be installed soon!
Nice stud wall all plaster boarded!
Just the bath, nice! Look at the state of that floor.
3rd bedroom nice and plastered now.
Hallway boarded and ready to be plastered!
Not very appealing as a relaxing bathroom!
We are all reduced to having to bath in the midget bath! It’s no fun at all!
New pipes for new towel radiator (not due until the bloody 19th February!)
New uber expensive shower mixer on the stud wall, now being used to fill bath!
Brick chiselled out to hide pipes and waste for new wall mounted unit.
£££££ shower mixer again!
New radiator and plastering drying in 3rd bedroom
New plaster on the bathroom ceiling.
Newly plastered hallway bit.
