Severn Beach Monster Codling… Well Not Really!

So fresh off the blinding success of Chesil Beach, myself and Neil decided to give good old Severn Beach a chance.

It wasn’t a massive tide (12.2m), but it was not raining and it was a reasonable time 22:40pm, so we thought sod it, why not!

After the absolutely hopeless light situation of Chesil, where I could barely see my rod tip with the crappy glow lights I bought off Ebay!! So I splashed out £4.99 on a nice LED light (see below) whilst purchasing the bait for the evening in www.veals4carp.co.uk, Bristol site.

So a generous £7 quids worth of nasty ragworm, that seems very lively at the moment wherever you seem to buy it from, and we are off and running to Severn Beach.

As usual there was was nobody else there (either a sign, or they didn’t fancy 11pm Sunday night!).

So we setup cast in….

The first cast of mine see’s me catching a codling! Here you can see my fish butler Neil “Jeeves” Bedford modelling the catch of the day by Duncan.

The evening saw lots of bites on the lines, but they were only eels we believe, still it made for some fun.

Ok so as promised here are the pictures of the rod light!

More Chesil Beach Pictures

Dave brought some photo’s in taken on his camera, for once there are a few shots of me fishing! Well I am dangling my sea rod in the water, not catching anything!

Infact during the trip I managed to damage the ring tip on my Daiwa rod, costing me £7 to replace it.

It’s Like Christmas Eve

So tomorrow is the big day, at last the first real fishing session of 2010 is due to kick off!

The three musketeers are off to Chesil Beach for our session and boy am I looking forward to it!

There’s no manky bream from Mr.T making an appearance thank fuck! Usually accompanied with a pile of festering prawns, the smell hits you like Mike Tyson when you get a wiff!

Hopefully Dave will remember his disposable BBQ as I got some sausages, although Neil is after a bit of bbq’d plaice!

So keep your eyes peeled for live updates during the day, and follow me (stratplayer2001) on Twitter.

Anyway the action kicks off about 8am, expected arrival time @ Chesil about 11am!

Tight lines……

Fish Caught in Bristol Channel!

Wow... not huge but its a fish! I caught this lovely funny looking flat fish, which after later investigation we think is a Flounder. Here you can see it modelled by Neil "unhook all Duncan's fish" Bedford.
